The Future...

Hey guys, you may have noticed that I've not posted on this blog for the longest time.
Part of this was because I was re-reading the Harry Potter series and although I have never reviewed them, I wasn't sure if anyone would actually want a review from me. I think most people know how much I love the series and everything Harry related without me gushing about each book in a seperate post.

I have however read two books since finishing the Harry Potter series again, those are Girl Online by Zoe Sugg and Vicious by Sara Sheppard, the last book in the Pretty Little Liar's series.
These reviews however will be going live on Juyey.com as will all other book reviews from now on.

I did a survery on Juyey.com and it turned out what I took from the site at the start of 2014, is what people missed the most, one of them being book reviews. I made this blog thinking my book reviews would annoy those who just read Juyey.com for beauty posts but it seems they were missed.

It's easier for me to run just one blog and it's better for the readers if everything is in one place, instead of following all different blogs, so from now on if you're looking for my blog posts head over to Juyey.com.
I will however be keeping this blog online as I have written many reviews on here which I do not wish to lose, but as of 2015 all other book reviews will be over on Juyey.com.

I would like to thank everyone who has followed this blog, shared links and of course commented. I hope to see you over on my main blog in the future. :)

M.A. Harper - Ghost in the Bedroom

M.A. Harper - Ghost in the Bedroom
M.A Harper - Ghost in the bedroom

M.A. Harper - Ghost in the Bedroom.

Hey guys today's review is going to be on the M.A. Harper book "Ghost in the Bedroom". I got this thinking it would be completely different, haunting, scary, a little bit creepy at least.
It definitely was about a haunting but the theme of the book was not creepy in the slightest.

This book is about a woman called Michelle who has two kids Cam and Nicole, after her husband was killed in a car crash, her family are heartbroken. Nicole turns to art, Cam turns in on himself and Michelle ends up meeting a guy, Phil, who has not long been left by his wife.
They end up getting married and moving in together, in a brand new house - with no ties to his prior family or her dead husband. Only thing, her dead husband's presence is all around to the point where Phil is seeing him.

I have to admit this was an odd book for a couple of reasons.
There was a point in the book where Phil mentioned about it being a year since him and Michelle had met, but this was near the end of the book and you'd just spent months with them. Did they really just meet and get married within a few months of meeting?

Also, Phil's ex wife who is now married, has no issues in taking Michelle's kids for the holidays, these kids that have nothing to do with her except they're her ex husband's step kids.
Maybe his ex wife is a nice lady, but I wouldn't take my ex's kids and let them stay over the holidays.

Get over those and it's a good book, it really made you want to find out how it ended, and then it ended. I feel robbed, I just didn't get the ending what-so-ever, it made no sense to me and I felt like a lot of ends were left untied.
If there is going to be another book in this series with these characters then I can understand the ending - somewhat, but I just feel a little lost if it's just a singular book, which is a shame as I was enjoying it - even with it's odd moments.

You can get your own copy on Amazon for £1.93

Giovanna Fletcher - Christmas With Billy and Me

Giovanna Fletcher - Christmas with Billy and Me.
Giovanna Fletcher - Christmas with Billy and Me.

Hey guys, today's review is on this short story called Christmas with Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher.
You have no idea how excited I was when I learnt that Giovanna was writing this. I absolutely loved her debut novel which featured the characters Sophie and Billy - Billy and Me.

This follows up from Billy and Me so if you haven't read that book and don't want any spoilers from the original book, I suggest you click off this page now.

Christmas has come to Rosefont Hill and is destined to be a particularly special festive season for Sophie May.

Christmas has not always been Sophie's favourite time of year, since her dad passed when she was 11 her and her mum just kind of ignored it as it brought with it too many painful memories. However after working with Molly in the Tea Shop and being the place for the locals to go to after carolling, she soon realised there was more love to give at Christmas. Add in her handsome actor boyfriend Billy, her mum's new partner Colin and his two kids - this year is set to be a great Christmas.

One thing? With the passing of Molly, it's the first time Sophie has set the Tea Shop up for the locals - and their families without her best friend. With the help of her patchwork family she manages to pull off a special evening for everyone. She then gets an email from a smitten stranger asking if he could use her tea shop on Christmas Eve to propose to the woman he loves. Even though Christmas is a busy time for the tea shop, Sophie cannot refuse.

This was such a good read, I loved seeing where the characters where in their lives since the first book, I also got 8% in and was tearing up, that happened a few more times throughout the book. Giovanna really knows how to make you feel those feelings.

If you haven't read Billy and Me yet, I highly recommend it. Then get this, it's heart-warming, heart-breaking and just an all-round great book.
Plus if you want to feel festive, this is the book for you.

My only complaint is that I now want more of Billy and Sophie.

You can get this on Amazon for 99p.

Shae Buggs - Remember This

Shae Buggs - Remember This.
Shae Buggs - Remember This

Hey guys, sorry there hasn't been any posts for a few days. I've been extremely tired and full of cold that every time I went to read, I'd end up falling asleep. Not the best when you're trying to read a book.

With that in mind I opted for a shorter book, one with less than 200 pages and I found Remember This by Shae Buggs.
This book follows Lucy, a hard working woman who finds evidence that her husband Mason has cheated on her, doing what most people in this situation would want to do (but probably shouldn't), she threw a bottle of wine at his head, causing him to lose his memories.

On doctors orders she is forced to help Mason try and remember who he is, meaning she has to reenact their life together before it went down hill, including their wedding.

This book is full of moments that will make you laugh, cringe for the characters and a few "aww" moments, definitely a pick up if you're looking for an easy read one evening.

The bad points would be that this book doesn't look like it was proof-read, there are a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes through-out this book.

You can buy this book for £1.79 on Amazon.

H.G Wells - The War of the Worlds

Hey guys, today's review is on the H.G. Wells science fiction novel The War of the Worlds.
I will be 100% honest with you, I had not heard of this until I watched Carrie Hope Fletcher's video where she explains that she is going to be in the musical version of the show (which I believe starts this month).

This book is dubbed as one of the first to be written about mankind and the extraterrestrial race, it originally being written in the late 1800's.

This book comes in two parts, book one - The Coming of the Martians and book two - The Earth Under The Martians. The copy I had had a lot more information about the author and behind the science kind of stuff on it as well.

I have to be 100% honest with you, I have no idea what I think of this book even though I have just  read it. You have to remember that this was written before the world got sci-fi crazy, aliens etc were not written about or thought about too much, so in that sense the book is very clever and imaginative.
On the other hand, I am living in 2014 and have seen/read a lot of unbelievable things that this just failed to impress me, as I heard it would do.
Curse of being in the 21st century I guess.

I just didn't connect to the characters at all, whether the aliens killed them or not was neither here nor there. When a person turned up dead I was less upset than when it talked about the bones of an animal, or a hungry stray dog.
Then the very end baffled me.

 (SPOILER ALERT)

...
...
...
...
...
...

The wife, was she alive, was she dead - was the narrator alive or dead?
I don't know. I spent all morning googling and couldn't come up with an answer, in the musical version I've heard the wife dies, but nothing was said about the narrator. In the book I couldn't decide if she had somehow miraculously escaped OR they were both ghosts.

When I finished the book I was left in a state of "I don't know what to think about that?"
As I said before for the time it was written it is very clever, but I just couldn't get into it.
It seemed rather jumpy, no connection to the main character, or reason why these creatures from Mars had attacked Earth, what they were building or how they suddenly just died - which I know it's explained how they died but why so suddenly like that.

It left me with a lot of questions, questions that Google cannot answer because I don't know how to word them correctly.
I can honestly say a book has never confused me as much as this one has, add the fact that when I was searching Google I came up with films and the musical - which are only based off of this book, so completely different in a lot of ways, that was too much at 5am for my brain.

I may one day return to this book and re-read it, see if a second reading can make more sense of it, but for now I'm left absolutely clueless about what to think of it.

You can get this book for as little as £2.28 on Amazon

Have you read this book? What's your opinions?
If you loved it, what am I missing?

Julie Smith - Death Turns A Trick

Julie Smith - Death Turns A Trick.
Julie Smith - Death Turns a Trick

Hey guys, I picked up this book from Amazon for free on the Kindle, you can still get it for free here.
It was a short book at less than 200 pages, but the description had me intrigued.

Rebecca our main character is a lawyer who is almost busted playing piano in a bordello.
Herself, and to her surprise the Senator are rushed out the back and given the keys to the owners car to get out of there. Only the senator has left something so escapes out of the car - which Rebecca has just crashed into a tree.
After answering questions at the police station, Rebecca goes home to find a dead prostitute on her carpet, the sister of the guy she is currently seeing, a guy who is now the main suspect in this murder case.

For having less than 200 pages this book has a lot of things happening.
Definitely one to curl up with a nice blanket and hot chocolate and spend a cosy night in with.

The Book Blogger Tag

The Book Blogger Tag
Book Quote - Oprah Winfrey

Hey guys, I saw this Book Blogger tag on Hayley from Water Painted Dreams blog and knew I had to do it, I do love a good tag and a tag about books? Perfect for me.

Which book most recently did you not finish?
The one I'm reading now? I always finish books so it would have to be the one I'm currently reading which is "Death Turns a Trick" by Julie Smith.

Which book is your guilty pleasure?
Probably the Twilight series. I've not read them in a long time but they used to be good books for easy reading and a good place to escape to.

Which book do you love to hate?
50 Shades of Grey. I persevered though those books, determined to read them. Almost throwing my poor kindle because of how poor the writing was and uninteresting / repetitive those scenes were. I honestly cannot understand the fuss over them, but I am judging those who think those books are "hot". They made me cringe and yawn.

Which book would you throw into the sea?
Requiem by Lauren Oliver - the last book in the Delirium series. I felt completely robbed of a good few chapters, the way it ended was awful which, with the rest of the book and two before being amazing, I was disappointed. It's one of those times when you're like "What the actual...?" when you realise there is no more pages left to read.
The worst thing was the author's explanation on the ending and why it ended like that was just a joke. There was so many questions unanswered, her answer to that was "you don't find out everything in life, so why would you in a book," BECAUSE IT'S A BOOK! It needs an end. This needed an end, it was like it was missing a lot of chapters. AARGH!

Which book have you read the most?
The Harry Potter books. The first four especially, those copies are just falling apart now.

Which book would you hate to receive as a present?
A book that was based on true life, but disturbed. Such as ones about serial killers. I can read books about killers if they're made up, but my brain cannot cope with it if it's real.

Which book could you not live without?
Harry Potter series. I have over 40, possibly 50 copies of those books now.

Which book made you the angriest?
Requiem by Lauren Oliver.

Which book made you cry the most?
 Deathly Hallows - Harry Potter.
No book has made me sob as much as that one did. Even now, after all this time I can't read it without tearing up.

Which book cover do you hate the most?
I can't think of any book covers that I hate?! Sorry.

Robert Galbraith - The SIlkworm

Robert Galbraith - The Silkwork
Robert Galbraith - The Silkworm

Hey guys, I finally got my hands on the second novel from Robert Galbraith - who I think everyone and their frogs know is JK Rowling. I absolutely loved the Cuckoo's Calling and really warmed to Cormoron Strike the main character - even if he's not really a warm character, I couldn't help but admire him and the way his brain worked.

I don't know why it took me so long to get this book, but thanks to my sister and the Amazon voucher she got me for my birthday, this was the first book I bought and read it straight away.
We get to see more of Strike in this book, discover him a bit more - see his family and friends. Again he's not a character that is warm, but I find myself admiring him all the same.

This book is based around the disappearance of a fairly known author Owen Quaine. We never actually meet this character, but we find out a lot about his writing style, his private life and his quirks. He is an interesting character.
His latest book is based on people he knows from his wife to his publicist, none of it nice in fact if it was to get published it would ruin a lot of lives.
That's why when he is found dead - in a very horrific way I may like to add - there is multiple suspects. Strike and his assistant Robin have a lot of people to interview and question that need answering, all without the police finding out and avoiding being followed by someone in a black coat.

This book is another great read. I love mysteries like this whether it be books, shows or films so it was always going to be a winner for me, the fact it's actually JKR who writes it makes me admire her so much more. I can't wait to read more of her work - whether it be in her own name of Robert's, but I really hope there are more books involving Cormoran Strike, he's a character that really intrigues me.

You can get your own copy for as little as £6.99 here.

Apryl Baker - The Ghost Files

Apryl Baker - The Ghost Files

Hey guys, sorry I'm a bit late with this review, my fibro has been playing up a lot lately so it's taking me a lot longer to finish books - and I've not wrote a blog post in so long due to sheer exhaustion.
I have this and another book review to write today and then I'm caught up with all the books I've read, so really hope this flare goes soon otherwise I'll have no new posts.

Apryl Baker
I really enjoyed this book, I thought it would be creepier than what it was - although it could be because I've read some really scary books which is why this didn't bother me as much, the cover does creep me out though, but it's what attracted me to it.

Mattie our main character is 16 years old. A foster child who has been moved from family to family since her mother tried to kill her when she was a child.
Her current foster parents also foster another girl, Sally.

When Mattie is at a party with her friends, she sees Sally in front of her - a gun wound in her head. Mattie sees ghosts.

The book follows Mattie as she communicates with other ghosts, tries to get her foster parents to look for Sally, and her relationship with Dan the cop - who doesn't quite know whether to believe her when she says she sees ghosts.

There are lots of twists and turns in this book, one that makes you to continue reading even when your eyes are protesting wanting sleep.

This is just the first book in the series, I'm intrigued to find out the next part of Mattie's adventures.

You can still get this for free on the Kindle

Luke Young - Friends With Full Benefits

Hey guys I have a review of the new book in the "Friends with Benefits" series.
If you want to read what I thought of the first book you can find that here.

I hadn't planned on getting this next book in all honesty but I saw it was free on Amazon for the day so figured I may as well find out what happens next with the characters I'd already gotten to know.

If you haven't read Friends with Partial Benefits - the first book in the series, then I would highly recommend you close this page now as this post will contain spoilers from that book and some from this book too.

As we know Jillian and Brian are now a couple, although Rob (Jillian's son / Brian's friend) still is unaware - although he does almost walk in on them, multiple times.

This book is exactly like the previous in the fact it's explicit. Even Christian and Ana (50 shades of Grey) didn't get it on as much as Jillian and Brian do, although those scenes are more diversely written in these books - if that's your thing.

I couldn't take this book seriously - that's not to say if Amazon offer the other books in the series for free I wouldn't get them, I'm quite curious to see what happens to these characters now, but first you have Jillian who is in a relationship with her son's friend, then Rob sleeps with Jillian's best friend - a woman the same age as his mother; also a woman who is sleeping or dreaming of sleeping with every single male she comes into contact with, before finally sleeping / falling for Brian's younger brother.

Then we have Brian's younger brother Jim, a virgin who has never been able to discover his sexuality at home because his parents are very strict - doors remain open at all time, including when you're in the shower. His mother creeping around at night to make sure he's asleep and not self "woo-hoo'ing" if you wish. Only for him to have his life changed completely making him a brand new man in such a short space of time.

Their parents - strict and disliking Jillian, understandable when she's a lot older than their son, yet Jillian and Jim discover they have a big secret of their own.

This book is all sorts of crazy, I dread to think of what goes on in Luke Young's head to come up with this book, the first book was weird enough - this just went right past that and thinking about it all makes my head hurt. It's definitely a book that makes you think "What on Earth did I just read?!" when you've finished.

You can still get this for free* on the Kindle

*Book still free as of the 5th October 2014 when post was written.

Gillian Flynn - Gone Girl

Gillian Flynn - Gone Girl
Gillian Flynn - Gone Girl

Hey guys today's book is Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl.
I actually downloaded this book on my Kindle years ago, it was one of the first books I bought for my Kindle, according to my account I ordered it on the 27th August 2012 - yet for some reason it took for me to partially see the trailer for me to finally get around to reading it. I believe the words "Gone Girl? I'm sure that's a book! I believe I own it!" were said.

The story is told from both Nick and Amy's point of view, both from past tense and future.
Nick and Amy are a married couple who have issues in their marriage that they continue to ignore. Both lost their jobs and decide to move back to Nick's home town to look after his sick mother, the last of Amy's inheritance going towards funding a bar that Nick and his twin sister Go run.
On their 5th Wedding anniversary Amy goes missing, the living room has been turned over and Nick isn't acting how a grieving / worried husband should be.
This book is full of twists and turns in every chapter, a complete page turner.

The main characters Nick and Amy; you want to like them, hate them, blame them and believe them  all at the same time, it's a weird feeling. These are two very twisted people and after I completed this book the first thing I said was "I never want to get married!" if this is what marriage is like.

I would highly recommend this book but expect strangeness.
I like a book that can confuse me, make me feel a million things and have me rushing to finish so that I can find out it's ending - that is exactly what this book did.

I've now seen the trailer and the film doesn't look like anything how I pictured it when reading the book - which is why I'm glad I read it first, that's not to say I won't enjoy the film but I'll see them as two different things.
I'd say read the book first.

You can buy it for as little as £2.85 on Amazon.

Michaela Thompson - Paper Phoenix

Michaela Thompson - Paper Phoenix
Michaela Thompson - Paper Phoenix

Hey guys when I first started reading this book, I didn't know if I was going to like it.
It starts off with a woman who is understandably upset after her husband leaves her for a younger woman, she contemplates killing him, but that's only to keep her mind busy as she doesn't leave the house, why should she? Being the ex (and embarrassed) wife of Richard a big shot in the town, Maggie is determined she is never leaving the house again.

Only the owner (Larry Hawkins) of the local paper has apparently committed suicide, and Maggie remembers over-hearing a phone conversation of Richard's where he told someone that "Larry won't be a problem any more," with this information she cannot stay at home, not when her ex husband could be a murderer.

This is where the story got interesting for me, there was excitement, drama, love even, all based in the 70's.
A good read if you get the chance.

You can buy this on the Kindle for £1.81

Aimee Duffy - Summer Flings Series

Aimee Duffy - Summer Flings Series
Aimee Duffy - Summer Flings

Hey guys, I was browsing through Google Reads on my phone the other day, if you haven't got Google Play I would highly recommend it, they have some great deals on books, including a few free ones.
This is one of the free books that was on there, the first book in the Summer Flings series by Aimee Duffy.

There is 7 books altogether in the series, in all honesty it could all be put into one book as each book is only 40-50 pages long, but they were nice short stories to read in one sitting.
Each book follows three best friends as they go on adventures around the world. After just finishing university they decide to travel around for the summer before going into the real world, and becoming a proper adult.

I thought I would review all 7 books as they continue from one to another on the girls travels during their summer holidays. Each book follows them to a different country.
Elle, Ciara and Gem looking forward to shopping, relaxing on the beach, going to clubs and of course meeting guys whilst they were away. There are a lot of unexpected adventures, some not so great.
The girls travel from Oxford to Hollywood before moving onto Miami, Paris, Greece, Ibiza, Florence, before landing in Dublin.

There is love, laugh, friendship and dealing with reality after you've finished university and are headed to the real world.

Each book is 49p each (that's less than £3.50 for all 7), you can buy Trouble in TinselTown the first book in the series on Amazon here, or if you wish to visit the authors page on Amazon and seeing all the books in the series, you can do by click here

Steve Demaree - Murder in the Library

Murder in the Library - Steve Demaree

Hey guys I have another review for you today, this time it's Steve Demaree's book "Murder in the Library", this is the third book in the series, although the only book I have actually read.
The police who are on this case know the victim, so I'm not sure if he makes an appearance in the previous books but this one he is the victim, and he knows it.

I have to say this book would have been a lot shorter but the author was quite food obsessed, you had a lot of details of what the detectives were eating or planning to eat, until one decides that whilst he's trying to work on the clues to solve the murder, he will buy a wii and eat healthier, leaving the other cop aggravated. It had nothing to do with the plot, whether it will come up in later books with these two characters I'm not sure, but I found it unnecessary.

Aside from that it was a great book, really got you thinking. How was a man killed in his own personal library, when no one had entered the room?! Definitely has you assuming it's every character you meet along the way, trying to think of their motives.

I would definitely read another one of these books, I'd just prefer all the food descriptions to be left out.

You can buy this for £1.99 on the Kindle here.

Pam Jenoff - The Other Girl

Pam Jenoff - The Other Girl

Hey guys, I have another review for you today, this time it's a short by Pam Jenoff.
I found some shorts on Amazon for free, I do like having some short stories on my Kindle for when I want to read something before bed, but not get sucked too into the book that you realise it's 5am and you're half way through a 700 paged book.

The Other Girl is based in Poland in the 1940's.
Maria our main character ends up marrying a guy she's not completely in love with, purely to get away from her father who she has discovered has been ratting out their neighbours, those neighbours are protecting the Jews from the German's. With her husband off at war, she stays with her in laws. One night she finds a girl, a young Jewish girl who has ran away from her home. Maria risks all to protect this girl, finding out secrets about her own family along the way.

Just when this book got interesting, it ended.
I would understand it if this was a teaser for a full book, but this was it.  It does say it's Historical Companion Novella to her next book The Winter Guest, but as far as I can see it's just the History and Location of where the books are set that are the same, the characters are not.

It was one of those moments when you get that frustrated you want to throw your book - only you don't because that would be book abuse.

It was a good start of a story, but left so many questions unanswered.

You can get it free still on the Kindle, here.

I got a lovely notification on Twitter the other day, the author herself favourited and retweeted this review.

Veronica Roth - Free Four

Veronica Roth - Free Four
Veronica Roth Free Four

Hey guys I have another short to review for you today.
I was scrolling through Google Play Bookstore and noticed this book was free, of course being a massive fan of the Divergent series I had to download it, who doesn't love Four? Seriously?

I have to say I was extremely disappointed in this book, even though I knew it was going to be a scene I've already read and knew what happens, only from Four's point of view. I was expecting to get more than what I did.
Honestly? I feel like this could have been written by someone on Tumblr. That's no way slating the fan fiction you get on Tumblr, but I expected more from the actual author of a series I adore.

You can still get this free on Amazon if you want to give it a go yourself.
I would class myself as a big Divergent fan, but I could have lived without this book in all honesty.

Kelley Armstrong - The Awakening / The Reckoning

Kelley Armstrong "The Awakening" and "The Reckoning"

Hey Guys, I thought I would put these two books in the same review as they are part of the same series.
I reviewed the first book in the series The Summoning a few weeks ago, I've finally gotten around to reading the rest of the series and I'm so glad I did.

The Summoning really had me turning the pages and these follow up books didn't disappoint.
I don't want to say too much about these books in case you haven't read The Summoning yet, as it would be massive spoilers, but if you can get your hands on this series I would recommend it.

These are supposed to be for teens, but some of these books creeped me out, there is one scene in The Awakening where Chloe is near a rest stop shop that's near some woods, that wasn't a scene I should have read at night, I'm woman enough to admit that it played on my mind that night.

This series is really good though, if you like paranormal and fantasy books then I'd highly recommend this series.

You can buy The Awakening and The Reckoning for £5.49 each.

Bob Avey - Footprints of a Dancer

Bob Avey - Footprints of a Dancer
Bob Avey - Footprints of a Dancer

Hey guys, today I shall be reviewing this Bob Avey book for you, I got this on Amazon for free - if you don't check out the freebies on Amazon you really are missing out on some great deals.  This book has now gone back up to £2.67.

This was a strange one, Kenny Elliot spots Laura Bradford 8 years after she disappeared. Kenny's friend Gerald Reynolds also spots her and calls Kenny, before Kenny gets to Gerald he is killed, his body is in an abandoned building, left in a ritualistic fashion. There is a noise outside which Kenny goes to investigate, when he goes back in the body of his old friend has disappeared.

The rest of the book Kenny - who takes a break from his job as a Police Detective to unofficially investigate his friends death, and how his old class mate Laura is involved.

This book is a mix between mystery and paranormal activity, it does leave you confused at some points but it all pulls together at the end.

Kathryn Player - Shop Gossip

Kathyrn Player "Shop Gossip"

Hey guys, another review for you today. I have been so behind on writing these reviews yet I keep reading more and more books, it's about time I settled down and started typing.

This was a short on my Kindle that I found free on Amazon although it's now gone up to 99p.

I found this an odd little book, set in a charity shop ran by woman in their late 40's / early 50's, they are worried that the shop will be closed down if they can't pick up business so they have a bake sale.
I couldn't even tell you the out-come of that bake sale or whether the shop stayed open and the book was only 62 pages long.
There was so much the story was all over the place, one woman was going on the internet to find dates, her sister though married was lusting after the shop manager, at some point a canary comes into it.
It was just too much that I ended the book confused as anything.

I wouldn't recommend this, especially not for the price.

If you wish to read it for yourself, you can buy it on Amazon for 99p.

Sara Shepard - Toxic

Hey guys, I finally got my hands on the 15th (and second to last) book in the Pretty Little Liars series.
I love the TV show, I love the books. I know most people rant about the show and also how many books there are in this series, but I love them.

One thing I have to say was this wasn't a file intended for the Kindle, I think it was a Nook(?) file that my Kindle then converted to get it to work, only it doubled the amount of pages that were in the book as the writing was huge, after reading it all text looked so small against it. You can buy this on iTunes and Nook, but not on the Kindle for some reason, I'm not sure why but she never releases her books on the Kindle until at least 6 months later.

It had been so long since I read the last PLL book and I'd read so many other books since then that I was confused when I started reading this, I thought I'd read it before - technically I had but not from that characters view, it was only the first few pages and explained a lot so it wasn't exactly the same.
I would advise you not to have just watched the show before reading this, the show is completely different to the books but as both have so much going on you can get easily confused.

Things seem to be looking up for the Liar's in this book, movie roles, selling art, book deals and true love - a little too good for them if you think of how much they have suffered in the past books. Of course you'll have to read the book to discover if A is going to ruin their lives again, or if the girls are actually going to be able to have their dreams come true.
One thing is for certain though, Alison is alive whilst a lot of other people are dying.

The next and last book in the series Vicious is expected to be released in December 2014 and I for one cannot wait.

You can buy this book for £9.94 on Amazon.

Kelley Armstrong - The Summoning

Hey Guys, today's review is in the form of Kelley Armstong's The Summoning, the first book in The Darkest Power Trilogy.
My sister actually left this on the book case outside my room one day to see if I would be interested in reading it - after reading the back, I was, I just wanted to get through the Ice and Fire series first, as soon as I'd finished the A Dance With Dragons book, I was straight to my room and picked this up, and I couldn't put it down.

I am a particular person, I can't stand horror or being scared, but love nothing more than a thrill or suspense book. I have an active imagination so just a few words on a page can make me think of all sorts - where in a horror film, you're seeing the work of other people's imaginations, not actually as bad as what your own can come up with, yet I would choose a thriller book over a movie any day. Anyone else like that?

This starts off with our main character Chloe being babysat as a child, her child minder keeps calling her into the basement even though her parents told her that Chloe must never go in there. The child minder is insisting so young Chloe descends down the stairs where she is cornered by a ghost.
Chloe can see ghosts.

The story then moves on, Chloe is a teen and the ghost in the basement just a dream, until she starts getting followed around by a guy in school. A guy who is all burned and no way possible that he's alive. With her mum dead, her dad away on business, Chloe is looked after by her Aunt - who after the incident with the burned guy in the school, sends Chloe to Lyle House. A home for disturbed kids.

In this book we meet other kids and see their "abnormalities". Described as mental illnesses - Chloe herself is diagnosed with Schizophrenia, we soon get to see that the other patients have gifts just like Chloe does, and Lyle House and the adults who are supposed to care for these kids are not who they say they are.

This was a real page turner, I got to the end and wanted to move straight on to the next one. You get completely caught up in this world and these characters. I can't imagine how horrible it would be like to live in a home for mental illnesses, that would be a huge nightmare for me, but being stuck there, not sure if you are imagining ghost, or actually seeing them, would be horrible.

I can't wait to get onto the next book.
You can buy this from Amazon for £5.99.

George R.R Martin - A Dance With Dragons

A Dance with Dragons - George R R Martin

Hey guys, another Game of Thrones book review for you today, technically it's two books on my kindle, but I will do the review for both in one.

I found these books to be more interesting that the previous, but again I felt like there was too much "filling" of information that wasn't needed, or didn't need repeating again. If he cut all that out, his books would be a lot shorter and he'd probably have them written a lot quicker too.

I definitely preferred the second part of the book, it left you on a bit of a hang over - leaving you wanting the next book because "that cannot have just happened?". It's so hard to write a review on a book without giving out spoilers.
I have to say I wanted to see more of Bran. I don't feel like we've got to see much of this character at all in the later books, though I feel like he is a very important character in the series. Not much has been said about the youngest Stark either, he's mentioned briefly but there isn't anything from his point of view, I'm not sure if that's because he's only 3/4?

Again with this book, the titles of the chapters had gone from having the characters names, to "The Lost Lord" and the likes, so you had to guess at who it was about at first, being that there is so much information in each chapter, by the time you've gotten to a new one, you've forgotten who and done / said what.

I have to say after reading the end of this book, I do now want to know how it ends and can understand fans complete frustration with the writer in the fact that he can't stick to a publishing date, or how many books he wants to write in the series.
I've heard that his publishers don't think the next book will be out until 2017! This is ridiculous and although I understand that you have to be in the creative mood to write that story, I just worry now it may never end.
Also what will happen to the TV show as the show isn't that far from the books, this new series, possibly half an other and it will be caught up.
Hopefully he will surprise us all and have the book ready soon.

What's frustrating for me is that I don't think this is a GREAT series, but even so I've been drawn into this world - even though I'm not attached to many of the characters, I just have to know what happens next.

You can buy this book for as little as £2.99 (Brilliant price for the full 1045 paged book) on Amazon.

So how about everyone else, what do you think of the Ice and Fire series? Do you prefer the show to the book? Or a book fan for life?

Robert Whitlow - The confession*

Robert Whitlow - The confession

Hey guys, I was sent this book from BookLookBloggers to review, it was only released on the 5th August, so a very new book. Who can argue with new books?

I have never heard of Robert before, but I liked the description of this book so thought I would give it a go. I was sent this to my Kindle, BookLookBloggers have other options available if you don't have a kindle.

This book starts off with Holt and his best friend aged 17, all their lives and futures ahead of them until one drunken night sees the best friend killed in a car accident, leaving Holt's life changed forever.
Move forward a few years and Holt is now an Assistant D.A in Ashley County, Georgia, sending criminals to jail one confession at a time.

With a long term girlfriend and a job he's good at - everything looks like it's going great for Holt, but lurking in his past is a dark secret that could end both his relationship and his career.

When a file turns up on his desk, Holt gets curious about a cold case of one of the town's wealthiest business men, a guy who allegedly shot himself. This file doesn't contain a lot of information on the case, but the more he digs up, the more he suspects that this was murder.

I enjoyed this book, it had lots of twists and turns that made me kept wanting to turn the page, also not want to put it down for too long because I wanted to see how it ended.
A few things that could have made it (for me) better, was the over use of characters names, "Holt did this, then Holt said that, Holt did the other," too much name in one sentence - if you can get passed that most people wouldn't have any issues.

The only other thing for me was it just seemed to be a little in your face with religion, I respect that there was some religion in the book, but this appeared out of nowhere and suddenly there were bible verses, that was a little too much for me personally. Aside from that, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery.

You can buy this for as little as £5.87 on Amazon.

Friends With Partial Benefits - Luke Young

Luke Young - Friends with Partial Benefits

Jillian Grayson is a disillusioned divorcĂ©e and best-selling romance novelist who suddenly can't write a chapter without her hunky male heartthrob suffering ED, an STD, or even worse.  - GoodReads

Hey Guys, this was another book I got on the kindle free from Amazon, it's been sat there just waiting to be read so after a few months of reading other books and passing this one, I decided I would get to it.

The book starts off with our main character Jillian - an erotic romance novelist who has got creative block, every time she tries to write the scenes turn from sexy to something going horribly wrong - due to Jillian's personal life. She's just divorced after catching her husband cheating.

Jillan has a son who is in college, the story passes between her and her son - more importantly her son's best friend Brian, who is having relationship problems himself. To try and cheer Brian up, Rob (the son) asks him to go home with him for the holidays, although Rob will be spending time with his girlfriend - who he doesn't see much of due to going to different colleges, his house does have a tennis court and Brian is a big fan of the game.
Coincidently enough, so is Jillian.

This book is very explicit, I mean you could assume that with the title but I thought I'd warn you.

This book is written by a guy which I was very surprised about, I'm not sure why but reading it I just assumed a woman had written it, not to be sexist it just the way it was written, the details, things I'd not expect a man to think about when putting certain scenes to paper. Well done Luke, you surprised me.

I have to admit this book did have parts that made me cringe, such as when Jillian watches Brian in the shower. Her sons best friend. Hmm little too "keeping it in the family" there for me, but otherwise it was an alright book. Did it make me want to rush out and buy the next one? No, but it was a good book to pass the time with.

You can still get this free on Kindle* on Amazon

* Blog post written on the 8th August, book may go up before post is published.

Murder is a Family Business - Heather Haven

Heather Haven - Murder is a family business

Just because a man cheats on his wife and makes Danny DeVito look tall, dark and handsome, is that any reason to kill him? - GoodReads.

Hey guys, I found this book on Amazon a few weeks ago, it was free at the time so I thought "Why not?!" Does anyone else scroll through Amazon for free books? I have found some amazing ones on there, then have gone to look back and found the price has gone back up. Wooo bargains.

Back to this review, I decided I needed a break from the A Song of Ice and Fire series, just a nice book I could curl up with and have read in a day - this was just the thing I needed.
I love a good murder mystery book and though this wasn't the best I've read - it was an easy read. I didn't need to think too much, I could sink into that world very easily and get lost for a few hours - just what I wanted.

The only reason I say this wasn't the best I've read is because I just couldn't connect with the main character. I'm not sure why but I didn't root for her. Her kitten on the other hand I wanted to hear more about as he sounded very cute. Saying that though I did enjoy reading it.
I'm sounding like I'm contradicting myself now. I enjoyed it, it was a good read - just not the best.

This book is set in San Francisco which I liked, I've always been fascinated with San Francisco for some reason, so to have that as the location made me happy. It's the little things.

Lee Alvarez - our main character, comes from a family of detectives, Lee is sent to watch the husband of her mother's friend who they suspect is cheating. What Lee doesn't expect is to find the husband shot dead, and a famous dancer is involved.
This book proves that you can know someone, but not actually know them at all.

You can buy this book for as little as £1.80 on Amazon.
